Jordan Poole is now shooting 45% from the field in the month of February. Those of you who had stopped paying attention to him because of his historically bad shooting performance as a rookie should take another look because, for these past eight games, he has looked not only like a real NBA player, but maybe even a GOOD NBA player. His finishing ability has improved. His jimboing ability has improved. His passing ability has improved (the Warriors even let him advance the ball sometimes). I don’t know if his hair has improved, but it probably has. The only thing that didn’t improve was his mustache.
It might be too late to avert disaster here. Poole is still shooting only 31% from the field on the season, which is unprecedented for a player in the three-point era who has the volume that he does. He will go down in the record books as one of the worst shooters ever. His utterly tragic 10% shooting in the month of December (!!!!!!) will noticeably drag down his career percentages for years to come, assuming that there are “years to come” in the context of his NBA career.
However, as I noted before, Poole has improved to the point where I would expect him to stick around in the league for a little while. Maybe he won’t have one of those fifteen-year careers that every player wants, but I could totally see four to six years. More if he shaves that strip of hair underneath his nose and above his lip. That thing just doesn’t work, man. Give it up.
