First off: Kevin Huerter actually only had 10 assists, not 11. He was credited with one where he passed the ball to De’Andre Hunter on a fast break who then quickly dropped it off to John Collins for a score. It was kind of a tight sequence, so I can see how the scorekeepers would get confused. This isn’t the kind of thing that the NBA is going to correct, since it wasn’t the difference between a triple-double and a not-triple-double, so sorry Hunter, your passing stats look like crap now.
And I didn’t put the correct “10 Assists” in the video title because then I’d get a bunch of mouthbreathers coming in here going “Buh buh buh but DEE TEE BEE, Huerter actually had 11 assists!!!!!11!1 without even reading the description. And I don’t want to have to deal with banning them all from the Internet.
11 assists or 10 assists, Huerter had a very nice passing performance here against the ‘Zards. With Trae Young out with flu-like symptoms (basically the NBA didn’t want to make everyone sad by telling everyone that he’s in quarantine at the CDC in Atlanta because he has the Coronavirus and is probably going to die soon), someone had to step up their playmaking, and Huerter is one of the best candidates to do so. He had a very large amount of LEGIT assists. Lots of lobs, even if Dewayne Dedmon wasn’t catching them quite cleanly enough to finish them immediately.
Now if only he had gotten 9 more rebounds for the triple-double. Or 9 more steals. Or nine more blocks.
