Shabazz Napier 27 Points/7 Assists Full Highlights (3/8/2020)

The ‘Zards: a team with a “big three”? That is the question of the day, and the answer is a resounding “YES!”. Every team in the NBA either has or wishes they had a big three, and you can put Washington into the “has” category.

The other question is, who comprises that big three? A quick look at the boxscore for this game will clearly indicate the answer: Bradley Beal, Davis Bertans, and Shabazz Napier.

You might dispute the synthesis of those three players being called a big three, but that is because you have not yet looked at the boxscore for this game. Here’s the deal: those three already named combined for 75 of the ‘Zards’ 89 points. If you thought that maybe Rui Hachmiura was somehow part of the big three (a laughable opinion), well, he managed a whole 0 points in almost 40 minutes of action. The only “big” thing about him is the magnitude of his ineptitude.

This is quite a redemption story for Napier, who has gone from the player who was so bad that LeBron left Miami just to get away from him to a player who is a valued and important of a big three. He already had a 27 and 7 game just a few weeks ago; now it has happened again, and I think I saw John Wall crying on the bench in a suit because he knows that Napier has taken his spot as a starter, now and forever. It’s easy to make fun, but I’d be crying too if I was a big bust who was too frail to even play.
