Garrison Mathews stats against the Miami Heat: 3 games, 17 points per game, 50 percent from three, 18 of 20 from the line.
Garrison Mathews stats against not the Miami Heat: 19 games, 4 points per game, 39 percent from three, 19 of 21 from the line.
And that’s including a 0-point game he had against the Heat near the end of last year. If you take that out (which I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t, obviously he didn’t realize he was playing the Heat that game), he’s averaging 25 points against them, which is, dare I say, ELITE. Which then means I can say this phrase without being wrong:
GARISON MATHEWS IS ELITE.
As a Bucks fan, I sympathize with Mathews in his burning hatred of the Heat, and I wish to aid him in his quest against the Heat in any way that I can. Which is why I made this highlight video: to spread the word. To let people know that Mathews is here, he can shoot threes, and that he just really wants to kick Pat Riley in the nuts.
I’m seeing the shots he was making in this one, and I was seeing his opponent, and I’m thinking: is there any reason Mathews can’t be the next Duncan Robinson? I realize that this may be the laziest player comparison that I’ve ever made, EVER, and I’m really sorry about that, but his quick trigger on that fast-break three and the way he can shoot it coming off screens has me wondering. And if I wasn’t going to use the Robinson comparison, I was going to go with JJ Redick, which is just about as bad.
Fine. You’ve guilted me. Let me rephrase things: is there any reason Mathews can’t be the next Wayne Ellington?
