Danny Green attemped 21 three-pointers in this game. Twenty-one! To give you a sense of how anomalous this is in the context of his career, his previous career high in 3PA was 13. And it’s also anomalous in the context of the NBA as a whole: there are only seven instances of a player shooting more than 21 threes in a game. Four of them are James Harden. Marcus Smart and J.R. Smith make the list too, which is hilarious. And then you have Klay Thompson at the tippy-top, who attempted 24 threes when he broke the NBA record by making 14 of them.

Green’s nine makes from the threezone also represent a career high, but his previous career high was eight 3PM in a game, so that’s not as mind-blowing. In fact, it’s almost disappointing that, with his high volume this game, Green didn’t even get into double digit 3PM. That kind of volume shows a willingess to do what it takes to smash records, but records were not smashed.

Imagine how sad you would be if somebody took 70 shots in a game but didn’t even break Wilt’s record. That’s sort of what I’m feeling right now.
