With my newfound determination not to waste my own time by uploading subpar highlight videos to my channel, I thought I had forever left behind unexciting performances like Royce O’Neale scoring twenty. You’re probably looking at this video with slack-jawed confusion, and not the wide-eyed wonder that other highlight videos provoke in you. Trust me, I’m just as slack-jawed as you are.
The thing is, Royce O’Neale’s twenty points were NOTABLE as ALL HECK, because he’s never even scored twenty before. That’s right, folks. This 28-year-old, four-year NBA player, who was basically a full-time starter for the Jazz last season and is again this season, has never scored twenty in a game until last night. So I have to make this highlight video even though it’s just Royce O’Neale scoring twenty and only 300 people are going to watch it.
The sick thing is, I was actually a little bit excited to make this video. My enthusiasm for scrubs persists even when I happen across their underwhelming point totals in the box-score and feel a wave of existential dread. It’s a strange duality of emotion that I live with.
That said, I consider you to be fully blameless if you just pass this video by without watching it. Even the inclusion of a Royce O’Neale dunk, which occurred well after an intentional foul so wasn’t even close to counting, won’t make this video palatable to casuals. Jazz diehards might find some value here, but then again, probably not. This video exists because it has to exist, not because it’s recommended viewing.
