You know, I’m just not sure about the pink sneakers that Tyrese Haliburton wore during this game. I’m admittedly the least-qualified person in the universe when it comes to discussing footwear, and I’m sure that the shoes themselves are perfectly comfortable and suited for basketball, but I can’t keep my feelings on this bottled up. The garish pink hue is ruining the aesthetic quality of my highlight video.
While re-watching this vid, it’s like my eyes just want to follow Haliburton’s sneakers around the court. Who cares about the ball, or the moves he’s making, or the score? My primitive brain must be hearkening back to 50,000 years ago when something that pink in nature would be a nutrient-packed piece of fruit or something, because it won’t think about anything else. The grip it has on my brain even continues after I stop watching the video, since I have now written TWO paragraphs on the subject, and ZERO paragraphs on the subject of Haliburton being absolutely clutch in any situation where clutchness is called for.
In the same way “fourth quarter Ja Morant” is totally a thing, “fourth quarter Tyrese Haliburton” is also a total thing, but you can extend it to be “end of quarter and fourth quarter Tyrese Haliburton”, which isn’t as fun to say but is more accurate. Honestly, this guy is getting me hyped up and I can state with 80% confidence that he’s the next Malcolm Brogdon in the making. Brogdon proved you can be a 20 PPG scorer even when your jumpshot is all wack. Kevin Martin proved this too. Haliburton will be the next in a long and proud line of scorers whose jumpshot mechanics look like they belong on a middle school B team.
