Another game, another triple-double for Mason Plumlee! Problem is, I’m totally desensitized to triple-doubles at this point, I literally feel nothing when I see that whatever random role-player has one. Maybe you’re in a better place than me, a place where you see that a player has at least 10 statisticals in three major statistical categories and feel some emotion of some sort, so if that describes you, I hope you enjoy this video.
Meanwhile, I want to call attention to a far more pressing matter: the fact that Plumlee is shooting 67 percent from the free-throw line this season. For a normal player, that’s not a good percentage, in fact it’s edging towards “bad” territory, but this is PLUMLEE we’re talking about. The guy with multiple seasons shooting under 50 on foul shots. The guy with, no exaggeration, the most BORKED free-throw form in the league.
67 percent for a guy who shoots it like he does is one of the greatest achievements of the season for any player. I am fully serious. You’ve seen the way he shoots it, you know how bad it is. If you need a refresher, there’s some really good clips of that abomination in this video, but I can offer a textual representation in case you’re using a screen-reader or something:
He brings the ball up, thinks about it for a bit, goes to shoot it, and then when he’s about to shoot it his guide hand just frickin’ exits the vicinity entirely and he awkwardly chucks the ball with one hand, using nothing but wrist, while one of his feet kind of shuffles forward because of all of the momentum generated by his brick.
God damn. 67 percent! Giannis really has no excuse.
