In case you forgot, I’m semi-retired right now. Not only does that mean I’m way more selective with the videos I upload on any given day, it also means I’m way more selective with which players are even allowed to be featured on my channel in the first place. Just think, when was the last time you saw me upload a Will Barton highlight video? Exactly.
In the five games that Kevin Porter Jr. has played with the Rockets, three have resulted in DTB-provided highlightage. The statlines for those games were 27/8, 22/8, and now 25/7. With this latest scoring exhibition, which of course still resulted in a Rockets loss, KPJ is averaging nearly 20 PPG per game on the season. If you round up his 19.6 PPG per game, he’s right there.
20 PPG per game has long been the OFFICIAL DBT POINTS THRESHOLD. If you score more than 20 PPG per game, you’re off the channel, no matter how much true scrubdom is carried in your loins. I’m willing to wait it out with KPJ, to see if this run of hot play is a statistical fluke or if it’s indicative of a long-term trend, but I’m not willing to wait it out too much longer. I’m semi-retired, after all, and I can’t be wasting my limited time making highlight videos for the same dude over and over while other scrubs jostle for my attention.
Simply put, Kevin Porter Jr. is going to have to play a lot worse, a LOT worse, if he wants a continued spot on my celebrated scrublights channel. He has to decide what’s important to him: success in the NBA, or success in getting highlight videos uploaded to the DownToBuck highlights channel on YouTube. I know which one I would pick.
