Man, Jordan Poole is really scoring the heck out of the ball right now. Stephen Curry? Never heard of him. Klay Thompson? Isn’t that Mychel Thompson’s crappy brother? All the Warriors need to win games is Poole pretending that he’s still balling in the G-League, and Draymond Green somehow having an impact while not being able to score at all.
Note: that sentence may have been the first time EVER where I said anything even tangentially positive about Draymond Green. My acknowledgment of his impact-having-ness should not be confused for an appreciation of him as player, however. He still sucks. And is ugly. And sucks.
Poole, however, does not suck, and isn’t particularly ugly as far as I can tell, though I am, in general, a bad judge of male attractiveness. Also, he’s really scoring the heck out of the ball right now. Did I say that already? I totally did, because he totally is. 25 points per 36, that’s top 20 in the league right there, if you ignore the fact that his sample size is fairly small. These last few games, especially, he’s instant offense as soon as the Warriors put him in.
Everyone knows all about his putrid rookie season, so I won’t go over that tired topic again, but even then, you could tell there were the makings of a scorer in there somewhere. His shot just looked so good, so pure. There’s always been players who are in the running for the “Prettiest Jumper That Never Goes In” award, Ben McLemore is coming to mind, but there’s no doubt that having a pristine shooting form will give you a better chance than having one that is all wonked out. Someone like Tyrese Haliburton, he’s great, but his form is super worrying. Like he could regress into a brickmaster at any second.
