Apparently, Giannis Antetokounmpo actually LOWERS the ceiling of this Bucks team, as evidenced by the fact that they dropped an effortless 140 on the Pacers in a game that was a B-out (that’s slang for “blow out”) from start to finish, despite Giannis being out for “load management” purposes or something. Pat “Patty Ice” Connaughton, having the sort of offensive freedom that can only come about as a result of a “superstar” player being absent, contributed twenty of those points while Giannis stood on the sideline and sadly practiced his shooting mechanics.

In an angle that has sadly been swept under the rug by the drivel-peddling mass sports media, this game was also the battle of “white dudes with Irish ancestry”, but the result was inconclusive, as both Connaughton and his foe Doug McDermott scored exactly twenty points. I thought Irish people liked punching each other, so I’m not sure why they didn’t try to crown a “white dude with Irish ancestry” champion by duking it out with fists at center court as soon as the final buzzer sounded. McDermott is physically bigger and I would put money on him to win that bout, but I wouldn’t count Connaughton out. If he can throw a pitch at 90 MPH, he can definitely throw a fist at 90 MPH. Plus, he’s scrappy.

It’s games like these where I don’t even mind that Connaughton is solely on the team because he’s pals with Giannis (the ceiling-lowerer that we were discussing before), and not because he as any overwhelming amount of actual basketball talent.
