Is it just me, or are people not really paying much attention to the Clippers this year? This can’t be what Kawhi Leonard was expecting; to form a superteam with Paul George in Los Angeles, choke in an incredible fashion in The Bubb ‘Offs, and then have no one care only one year into the experiment because an even superer superteam got formed in Brooklyn. Should’ve stayed with the Raptors, bro. At least people loved you there.
It doesn’t help that outside of Leonard and George, the rest of the Clippers roster is seriously uninspiring. It’s basically a big list of players who no one cares about (and I know this because I’ve made vids for basically all of them and none of them draw in the view counts that you think they should given their production). Reggie Jackson? Marcus Morris? Ivica Zubac? Good players, but not exciting players. What even happened to Serge Ibaka? It feels like the brand he was working on in Toronto didn’t fully transfer to Los Angeles.
And don’t even get me started about Luke Kennard. DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED. If you’re gonna treat him so bad, at least trade him to some garbage team so he can play his game and get into a groove. God damn it.
On a team like the Lakers, a young player like Terance Mann scoring something like 23 points on 10-for-12 shooting against a high-quality playoff team would be one of the most hyped performances of the evening. We’d never hear the end of it from Lakers fans if, say, Talen Horton-Tucker did this. Never, EVER. But with Mann, on the Clippers, not a peep. I’m detecting no hype. I’m starting to think that maybe having two teams in Los Angeles is a bad idea, when even making the Clippers a championship contender still leaves them in a distant second place.
Oh well, just because no one else is hyped doesn’t mean I can’t be hyped. That said, I’m not hyped, because this is Terance Mann we’re talking about, but I could be hyped if I wanted to. Maybe.
