Sometimes plebs need to be put in their place. This is one of those times. It’s been a while since I reminded my loyal viewership of the fact that I pay real-life American dollars to subscribe to the analytical service Stathead, and that I’m a superior basketball fan to my viewers because of that subscription. I wield the power to look up fun stats whenever I want, and you can only wait patiently and pick your nose (eating, of course, the most delectable boogers that you recover from your nostrils) while you wait for me to share those fun stats which I, and only I, have the ability to look up.
Now that the plebs have been put back into their place, here’s a fun stat for you:
T.J. McConnell has had three games this season getting 15 assists off the bench. The only players to achieve that feat more often in their career are John Stockton and John Lucas (father of the rather unnotable John Lucas III, who once got jumped over by LeBron but nobody remembers). Both of those dudes did it four times in their careers. Muggsy Bogues did it three times.
John Lucas also holds the record for assists off the bench with 24, so McConnell’s got a way to go on that one, but my point is, McConnell is an ELITE ball distributor off the bench. Using the term “ELITE” here is not unreasonable. My other point is, I’m “ELITE” at being a better NBA fan than you because I pay for Stathead and you don’t. And if you do pay for Stathead, you probably don’t even know how to use it, meanwhile, I use it for hours every day looking up cool stuff and mastering its secrets. Really that’s the point I’m trying to make here.
