The Cavaliers have had to play without Kevin Love for most of this season. Only recently has he come back to the lineup full time. Considering that Love is the only established “star” on the roster (although his stardom is in doubt at this point), that’s a lot of production that has to come from other sources. Not to worry! The Cavs had a Kevin Love clone waiting in the wings, and his name is Dean Wade.
Wade didn’t see much playing time as a rookie, but has been decent this season. This is his second DTB highlight video of the year, so, if you’re one of those people who use DTB highlight videos as a barometer of success for young players, Wade scores well on that front. With Love back in the rotation, Wade might see a slightly reduced role, but, actually, he might not, because Love really doesn’t seem interested in being a high-volume scorer anymore. Case in point: Love played thirty minutes in this game, and Wade was still able to drop the first twenty-burger of his career.
Wade should honestly be focused on learning everything he can from the veteran Love. Among the things he can learn:
-How to lock down Steph Curry for exactly one possession
-How to have your mental health speculated on by millions of clueless basketball fans
-How to be a pudgy statpadder for a bad team in order to get big contracts
-How to win a championship by getting carried by the GOAT of all time
If Wade can learn these secrets, he could turn himself into the best Wade in Cavaliers history.
