Honestly, I should just make a vow to myself to never upload highlight videos of Lakers players ever again. The OFFICIAL DTB POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL has a few blank pages at the end for me to write in new policies as I come up with them, so it’s totally within my capabilities to unilaterally disallow all Lakers players from setting foot in my sacred YouTube channel. Even exciting young players like Talen Horton-Tucker who, while perhaps not deserving of the huge amounts of hype heaped upon them by rabid Lakers fans, are still deserving of a moderate amount of hype, would be banished under this new regime. I wouldn’t take pleasure in it, but sometimes you just have to buckle up and make the tough decisions for the good of everybody involved.
Here’s the thing: Lakers fans are spoiled. Even though their franchise was in the doldrums starting right around the time that they made a failed superteam with Howard and Nash, and then went out and signed Deng and Mozgov to try to right those wrongs (LOL [lots of laughs]), they’ve had so much historical success, and enough recent success, that their fans are in no way “long-suffering” or “beleaguered”. Frickin’ LeBron James and Anthony Davis signed with them, for crying out loud. Most teams that suck for extended periods don’t even have the remotest chance to sign big-name free agents, much less the biggest-name free agents. Since Lakers fans have it so easy in life, they should not be allowed to experience the joys of watching DTB highlight videos of their players. That’s really what it comes down to.
And if there are THT fans that would become upset were I to stop uploading videos for him, the advice would be simple: have THT demand a trade, or wait until he’s a free agent and signs with a team other than the Lakers. As soon as he was wearing the jersey of another team, I would be able to make highlight videos for him again. I think this is a totally reasonable way to punish Lakers fans who, through an accident of geographical proximity, are the most spoiled NBA fans in the universe. If anybody has any other ideas on how to punish them, I would be happy to take those ideas under consideration.
