The world-renowned DownToBuck YouTube channel is known far and wide as a haven for scrubs and role-players. Given that fact, one must question the wisdom of the decision to continue featuring Chris Boucher on such a channel. After all, Boucher has now had THREE thirty-point games this season, putting into doubt his status as a mere role-player.
If you had told me that the Bouchebag was going to be in danger of playing himself off this channel at any point in his career, I would have laughed in your face, except I wouldn’t have, because I’m too polite to do something like that. I would have nodded agreeably while privately doubting your words. Because Boucher, while skilled in many facets, never struck me as the type of player who would be able to consistently score large amounts of points in the NBA. Sure, he was G-League MVP, but we all know that G-League stats mean literally nothing in the context of NBA success. Joe Alexander averaged 18/10 in the G-League, and we know that guy was a bucket of booty sauce.
But here we are. Boucher is regularly playing well above the standard of this channel, and the only things keeping him here are 1.) he sometimes has bad games that drag down his averages and 2.) I count on video views from Raptors fans to validate my existence. Were it not for those two factors, Boucher would be going the way of Norman Powell, a player who did so many good things on the court that I had no choice but to put him on my OFFICIAL EXCLUSION LIST.
Oh, I forgot reason #3 why Boucher is still on my channel: sometimes he hits crazy three-pointers with that trebuchet form of his and it just fills me with unreasonable amounts of joy and giddiness. Anybody that reminds me even distantly of Manute Bol and his six three-pointer game automatically becomes my favorite player ever. In fact, that Manute Bol shooting exhibition is so nasty that I feel compelled to link it here so everybody can know it and enjoy it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPYZpwSpKmA
