OFFICIAL DTB APOLOGY: I hereby OFFICIALLY APOLOGIZE for spelling Payton Pritchard’s name incorrectly when I initially uploaded a previous highlight video of his. In a moment of embarassing ineptitude, I spelled his name as “Peyton”, having gotten the spelling confused with Elfrid Peyton, who is an inferior point guard playing for the Knicks. This error went uncorrected for several hours until a helpful commentator brought it to my attention. I certainly did not intend to disrespect Pritchard by misspelling his name so prominently, nor did I intend to denigrate the fans of Pritchard, of which there are many, by spelling his name wrong and presuming nobody would notice or care. A person’s name is one of many contributing factors to their humanity, and getting it wrong is a grave error. That is why I am setting aside time to issue an OFFICIAL DTB APOLOGY.

Now that my soul has been washed clean of the guilt that has suffocated me for the past week, I can move on and think about Payton Pritchard in a clear-headed, rational way. He’s clearly coming into his own as a scorer, and the Celtics being down two of their big bucket-getters (Jayson Tatum and Kembert Walker) gave Pritchard an opportunity to take on a larger role. Pritchard didn’t disappoint, giving the Celtics a career high 28 points and becoming the 7th rookie to score 28 or more in a game this season.

That might sound like a weird stat, but, remember, I pay large amounts of hard American currency to access the analytical service Stathead, so if I want to come up with weird stats to share with my viewership, that is my right and my privilege. In case you’re wondering, the other six rookies to drop 28 in a game are Anthony Edwards (6x), LaMelo Ball (2x), Saddiq Bey (2x), Tyrese Haliburton, Tyrese Maxey (too many Tyreses), Theo Maledon, and Immanuel Quickley. Clearly, Pritchard is in good company, as that list contains multiple ROTY of the Year candidates.

Now one has to ask, who even needs or wants Kembert Walker anymore?
