Talen Horton-Tucker has been a nice holdover for the Lakers while they deal with absence of LeBron “NoDefense SuckBalls” James AKA Jabroni Lames. Sure, the Lakers haven’t looked great in this LeBron-less stretch, but at least they have this twenty-year old combo guard making things exciting for them while they pray to God to not let them slip into the “danger zone” of the 7th and 8th playoff seeds.
I’m getting Shai Gilgeous-Alexander vibes from THT, and I’m not saying that because they both have three-part names. I will admit that my judgment sometimes becomes clouded when it comes to comparing players based on superficial attributes that have nothing to do with the actual game of basketball (I will often compare players on the basis of dreadlocks), but this is not one of those times. My judgment is unclouded here, I assure you. SGA and THT are both tall-ish point guard/shooting guard type players with a nice midrange game and they probably both play good defense too, not that I would know anything about that.
The main difference between the two is that SGA is good at threes and THT kind of licks booty on threes. 27% from distance is just not good at all. He needs to take lessons from Ben McLemore. And if McLemore is charging too much for lessons, THT can take lessons from me instead. My rates are extremely reasonable (as in, “free”), but the downside is my arms are really skinny so when I have to shoot from NBA range, my form gets all wonky and my form no longer is worth emulating. But free is free, and a second-year player like THT isn’t made of money. HMU me up, Talen. You know you want to meet me.
