Casual viewers of the Memphis Grizzlies may have found themselves confused at points this season: they would see John Konchar on the court, okay, that’s normal, but then ANOTHER John Konchar would appear on the court so that there were two John Konchars, or maybe the camera would cut to a shot of a warmups-clad John Konchar sitting on the bench while the first John Konchar was shooting free throws, or one John Konchar would sub out for the other John Konchar. All this despite the fact that there is, objectively, only one John Konchar, unless he has a twin we don’t know about.
Mystery solved, casual viewers! That second John Konchar isn’t actually John Konchar, but a whole different player and entirely separate human being, named Killian Tillie! He’s French!
Yes, I know, “Killian Tillie” does seem like kind of a made-up name. Which is why my nickname for him is “Till-man”. Problem with that nickname, though, is that you quickly run into ambiguities because of the existence on the Grizzlies roster of one Xavier Tillman (even with the lack of hyphen). My secondary nickname for Tillie is “Killian Hays”, so chosen because the region of France he is from is known for the superior quality of its hay production of all types and styles. Sadly, this one ALSO creates some confusion, because, unbeknownst to me, there is a rookie by that exact name! There is just no end of confusion when it comes to this dude.
So now I’m just going to call him “Killie” because he likes FRICKIN’ killing dudes on the court. His love for hardwood murder is shown clearly in this vid, where he scores 16 (a career-high, but I can’t put “Career High” for EVERY vid I upload today or I run the risk of diluting the term), including a serious coffin-closer three with 40 seconds to go.
