If you should know one thing about the NBA highlights enigma known as DownToBuck, it’s that DownToBuck loves REVENGE GAMES. In my view, there is simply nothing more satisfying in life than watching a discarded cast-off from some team play that team later in their career and utterly destroy them. When I think about things that give me a bigger dopamine kick, I realize that no such things exist. Even the experiences I cherish most in my life, such as eating an entire thing of fifteen chicken wings with blue cheese dipping sauce, or removing all my clothes and performing “poptart rituals”, do not come close to the experience of watching a thirty-point REVENGE GAME that is so absolutely chock-full of pure, hateful REVENGE that I almost feel sympathy for the Raptors organization. Almost, but not quite.

Oshae Brissett is the bad, bad man who unleashed this tidal wave of furious REVENGE upon his former team, the Raptors, thereby informing every Raptors staff member who occupies a decision-making position that they screwed up badly in not retaining him. I can just imagine Nick Nurse frantically pacing around his office, pulling out what little hair remains on his head as he wonders what kind of horrible oversight must have happened for the Raptors to give up on Brissett in favor of, like, Henry Ellenson or something. And then, after he’s done pacing, Nurse pulls up this highlight video of Brissett scoring 31 points on his computer and watches it to completion as a bizarre form of self-punishment. Meanwhile, Raptors fans all across Canadia are engaging in their own rituals of self-punishment, such as continuing to live in Canadia, or allowing their thoughts to wander towards topics such as Kawhi Leonard.

Brissett has done plenty of good things to solidify his place in the league going forward, but he didn’t even need to, really: he’s under contract for two more years after this, so monster end-of-season performances aren’t going to be directly securing him new contracts. That just makes the REVENGEFUL aspect of this game even more monumental. Brissett was motivated ONLY by his desire to blast a full load of pure, white-hot REVENGE in the faces of every Canadian citizen. That kind of VENGEFUL nature is the exact thing that makes me love the NBA. Hopefully Brissett enjoys hanging out with Carlos Delfino in The Hall.
