Tremont Waters Career High 17 Points/5 Assists Full Highlights (5/16/2021)

I admit to getting confused between Carsen Edwards and Tremont Waters. Both of them are sub-six-foot guards who have been on the Celtics for two seasons now, and neither of them has done a whole lot in the NBA up to this point. But now that I have made a highlight video of Tremont Waters (as of right now), I can say that the confusion is mostly cleared up. Previous iterations of DownToBuck would be ashamed to get scrubs confused with each other, but this semi-retired iteration of DownToBuck does not have the energy to keep straight all the scrubs which populate the ends of NBA benches. Edwards has hair doodles on his head; Waters has normal hair on his head. That’s the main way to differentiate them at the moment.

If we’re being honest here, Waters’ time in the NBA is probably over. He was the 51st overall pick last season, so it’s not like he had huge expectations coming in. A late second-rounder appearing in thirty games and scoring 140 points over two seasons is not a bad outcome, all things considered. But, like so many Celtics picks before him, he hasn’t shown enough to warrant a second contract from any team. Time for a crash-course on conversational Turkish! I figure that, since Shane Larkin (another short Celtics legend) has had success in Turkey, Waters can find the same success. Or at least the same type of success, but less of it, since Waters has shown even less than what Larkin showed in the NBA.

The other option for Waters and Edwards is to start a new career as Celtics mascots. Since they’re both short and we already know that they look good wearing green, they can be the team’s official leprechauns. Who wouldn’t want to watch a leprechaun dunk contest at halftime? I would want to watch that so badly that I would ignore my body’s urgent need to use the bathroom, as well as my body’s urgent need to consume as many overpriced concessions as will fit in my arms (and on my credit card). And I’m sure it would pay just as well as whatever pocket change those Euro teams are able to scrounge up to pay their players.
