Here’s a fun fact for you: Dewayne Dedmon was the Heat’s leading scorer last night. In a playoff game. Outscoring Jimmy Butler (ten points), Bam Adebayo (sixteen points), and Tyler Herro (four points).
Playoff teams who feature players like Dewayne Dedmon as prominent scorers are not going to see much success. He wasn’t even on the team until April. He was just chilling out on his couch waiting for his phone to ring. And now he’s out there hustling for buckets while his teammates suck on their thumbs.
I like Dedmon. I wish he did more of that stretch-five stuff he was known for in the past, but he did hit his second-ever three-pointer while wearing a Heat jersey, so maybe he’s getting back to it a little bit? I don’t want this video description to be a hit piece where I imply that he’s some kind of scrub whose every bucket is a cosmic accident. On the contrary, I think his bucket-getting ability is understated, and if anybody needs a hit piece written about them, it’s Dedmon’s teammates.
Dedmon turned himself from Dedmon into Alivemon. Meanwhile, Jimmy Butded, Bam Adedbayo, Tyler Dedro, and Duncan Robinded didn’t hold up their end of the bargain. The result was a blowout loss from start to finish. I could ironically suggest that Dedmon should start next game to teach Adebayo a lesson, but I don’t think that’s the answer here. Really, the rest of those dudes need to play better, and Dedmon needs to continue playing this way, and then maybe the Heat can take some games of the Bucks and I can go back to feeling victimized.
