Terry Rozier was a very clutch dude last night, sinking a three-pointer to tie the game with eight seconds left, a game which eventually went into overtime. The Celtics went on to lose the game, but in the context of Rozier’s performance that doesn’t matter. He was a clutch mofo. The fact that his teammates didn’t set him up to be clutch in the overtime period isn’t his fault.
Unfortunately for Rozier, “clutchness” doesn’t exist other then perhaps as a willingness to take big shots and as a temporary state of being that occurs directly after making a “clutch” shot. The amount of clutch that Rozier has in his body this morning is approximately zero parts per million, the exact same amount as everybody else in the universe (including aliens). Even if he makes high-pressure game-winners for the next ten games straight, he won’t be any more clutch, he’ll just be a lucky guy who was put in a position to succeed and managed not to screw it up.
That’s my hot take for today. And you know that after I supply a hot take I need to supply my tummy with a Hot Pocket to replace the lost heat. DTB out.
