Has Elfrid Payton been… kinda good this year? I was just so used to him being a bottom-5 starting point guard in the NBA that I never really considered that he could improve from that.
I could be wrong. I don’t usually watch a whole lot of Magic games in my spare time (but I did watch today so I have a bunch of really hot takes!). Maybe Payton is putting up good-ish stats but not actually helping his team win. There are a lot of players like that, and those players often have attributes that Payton has. Like not being able to shoot. Or having really ugly hair that actually hinders his attempts to get better at shooting. Okay, Payton’s probably the only player in the league with that particular attribute.
In any case, I’m going to tentatively go with “he’s a good player sort of” going forward. When I watch Magic games, I’m going to assume that he’s going to play decent-ish, instead of assuming that he’s just going to suck like I used to. Does that sound good? It’s not like I think Mario Hezonja is good or anything. This seems realistic.
