Dennis Schröder 23 Points/15 Assists Full Highlights (1/29/2017)

These stats look good for Dënniß ßchrööder on the surface, 23 points, a career-high 15 assists. No problem, right? WRONG. As you probably know, this Hawks-Knicks game went into quadruple-overtime, and ßchrööder’s stats were the beneficiary as he got to play for 55 minutes.

Basically, according to the tenets of math, his extra playing time renders his counting stats from this game totally meaningless. Sorry ßchrööder-bros, but this game doesn’t count. Paul Millsap’s 37 and Carmelo Anthony’s 45 points also don’t count, so it’s not like ßchrööder is being deliberately targeted here. When games go into this many extra innings, you can throw out the stats. Wilt scored 100 in regulation. If there had been an overtime, would it have counted? Of course not.

ßchrööder, despite his meaningless stats, was kind of clutch in this one, hitting three separate clutch layups. He missed a few free throws that would have put the game away for good, but eventually even Courtney Lee couldn’t hit his threes, and the Hawks came away with a hard-fought victory. But who really won was that Hawks organ dude, who got to annoy everyone in attendance for an extra 20 minutes of gametime, plus all the extra breaks (yeah I went there, come at me).
