Troy “Ménage à Troys” Daniels, when he’s on, is one of the most electrifying shooters in the NBA. Any fan of a team he’s been on (except for the Timberwolves) knows this. And they also know that he is wildly incosistent. He’ll have a game where he hits a bunch of threes in no time flat, and then disappear for a week or two. This happens even if a team gives him consistent minutes. That’s just how he is, and you have to live with it.
Tonight, his switch was stuck firmly in the “on” position. With Devin Booker sidelined, he stepped up and replaced the missing production perfectly, scoring 32 points and hitting 7 threes. The Raptors just couldn’t handle those handoffs behind the three-point line. The Suns could have run that “play” every possession and gotten Daniels 50, but they didn’t.
What they also didn’t do was let Daniels have the last couple shots to try and steal the game at the end. Come on! He’s the hot one, T.J. Warren wasn’t the hot one, you have to put the ball in your best player’s hands and let him make a play. Daniels should’ve been that guy.
