The winning streak is over. It was fun while it lasted, but now the Bulls can focus their eyes back on the goal: getting the number one pick in the upcoming draft and drafting Luka Doncic. Winning is fun, sure, and it was great for their chemistry which seemed to be teetering towards toxic, but you know what’s even more fun? Drafting a young European studmuffin to pair with your other young European studmuffin and bringing some more three-peats back to Chicago.
Lauri “The Fabulous Finn” (nickname courtesy of Neil Funk) Markkanen is the already-existing studmuffin in this scenario. If you thought I was talking about Paul Zipser, you are one misguided fool. I pity you.
Markkanen had a really nice night scoring the ball tonight, 25 points without much help from the three-ball. He was hitting some midrange stuff that was Durant-esque. That’s right, Durant. Not Nowitzki, not Porzingis. I am capable of making player comparison across racial boundaries. Markkanen was Durant-esque tonight. Minus the acne.
