Question: why the heck is Jawun Evans’ name pronounced “Juwan” as in Juwan Howard? That’s not how it’s spelled. The way it’s spelled, it should be pronounced “JAH-wun”. Or “JAY-wun”. I’ve been calling him JAH-wun in my head for the past I don’t know how long, but his basketball-reference page says its pronounced like “Juwan”, and that’s how the ESPN commentators referred to him, and just in case you thought the ESPN commentators were simply being ignorant, that’s how the Clippers commentators refer to him to.
This is like when I found out that Antawn Jamison’s name is pronounced like Antoine, not an-TAWN. I didn’t get out of bed for a week after that one. Not even to use the bathroom.
Evans was granted the opportunity to play against the player he replaced in Clipperland (Chris Paul), and made the most of it, scoring fifteen points on a nifty array of jumpshots and hitting some of his teammates with slick passes. Oh yeah, and the Clippers somehow won the game too. If you squint your eyes hard enough while watching this one, you can almost pretend CP3 has returned to the Clippers.
