What’s up with all these second/third-tier point guards getting career highs tonight? Spencer Dinwiddie, Dennis Schroder, Elfrid Payton, Austin Rivers. I only ask because those types of vids are about my least favorite to make. Mostly because they also rack up a bunch of assists, too many to ignore, when what I really want to do is showcase the scoring and nothing else.
In any case, here’s the vid. All 26 points and 8 assists. One assist better than the last time Din-Dins scored 26, which makes this, officially, the greatest Dinwiddie highlight package of all time. It’s fine if you’re not very excited. Dinwiddie is an acquired taste, and once one is able to understand him, excitement is not the word to use. More like… appreciation.
His formerly hot three-point shooting hit took a big dive a couple games ago, to where he’s now comfortably shooting higher from the field than from three. He’s recovered a bit with last game and now this game, but my dreams of him in the three-point shootout over All-Star weekend are probably over.
