The way Bulls fans gripe about Jerian Grant, you would think that every shot he takes is either a stepback eighteen-footer or a three-pointer chucked after dribbling around mindlessly for fifteen seconds, and that every assist credited to him is actually a mistake on the part of the scorer’s table. Maybe those things are true some of the time, but I think underneath the bad shots and the annoying tendencies is a player who can actually shoot a little bit and is an improving facilitator (when he’s not freezing Markkanen out of the offense).
If Grant had gotten two more rebounds we would be talking about a triple-double right now and everybody would be excited about him. When I say “everybody” I mean just a few people, but even a few people excited for Grant would be way more than the current amount of people excited for Grant, which is Zero with a capital Z. Bulls fans probably just want Kris Dunn to come back from his cunt-cushion and not have headaches anymore so that Grant can go back to a bench role.
