When Mario Hezonja scored 28 points while hitting 8 threes a couple months ago, we knew it wasn’t sustainable. It was fun, and amazing to watch, but not something we could expect out of him on a regular basis.
This, on the other hand, is totally sustainable. He could do this every game if he wanted to: pretend he’s gonna shoot from outside, and then drive to the cup and score in the PAINT AREA. He doesn’t even have to dunk it necessarily, he proved that he can finish with a variety of crafty moves that weren’t dunks.
If he wants to dunk it, though, I definitely encourage him to do so. No one is saying he shouldn’t be trying to dunk it when he gets the chance.
I was torn while watching this game, with a terrible dichotomy wrenching my psyche in two different directions: is my desire for high-scoring Hezonja performances less or greater than my desire to see the Bucks win? I found out my answer when Hezonja missed a potential clutch three late and noticed that I had hoped for it to go in while it was in the air. I’m not a very good Bucks fan.
