Credit where credit is due: Thon Maker has not looked as horrifically unplayable these last few games as he did at the beginning of the season. He likely still is (horrifically unplayable), but at least he sometimes does positive things on the court, enough to fool the casual observer. I still have no confidence whatsoever that he’ll finish whenever he’s right at the rim, both of his dunks tonight were iffy, but at least he sometimes hits a jumper.
The Bucks have been struggling at the center position when Henson’s not in the game, which isn’t a good sign, because Henson isn’t that great in the first place. The fact that he’s the clear favorite at that position should be an ominous sign to Bucks fans. A portent of doom to come in the playoffs. Besides Thon, Tyler Zeller and Marshall Plumlee (is this the first time a Plumlee and a Zeller have been on the same team?????? No but I made you think didn’t I?) are the other centers, which is horrible and makes me want to die. Well, that’s put it strongly. Not really WANT to die, more like I could die and that would be okay.
So if Thon could step up a little bit and really seize that backup C role with a bout of inspired play that would be great.
