To my untrained eye, it appeared that Brandon Ingram was actually, really, truly acting as the point guard for large stretches of this game. Whether he did more in that role than bringing the ball up the court and initiating the offense, I couldn’t tell you because I’m not about to waste valuable highlight-making time to watch large chunks of the game. But he scored 22 points, had three assists (not shown), and in general the Lakers offense thrived with him at the helm.
Remember when Marcelo Huertas gave that interview where he complained about Ingram being allowed to run the point while he (Huertas) rotted on the bench? Aside from reinforcing the “Hurtass” nickname for Huertas (because he’s butthurt about how things went in LA), it informs us that this is not the first time Walton has attempted the “Ingram at PG” experiment. However, I think it is safe to say that this go-around has been much more successful than any previous attempts at it.
Are Lonzo Ball and Isaiah Thomas DONE in Los Angeles?
