The Wizards, once upon a time, traded a first-round pick to the Nets to acquire the services of Bojan Bogdanovic. A first-round pick for what ended up being a half-year rental. He was supposed to bolster them for their playoff run, and I guess he did, kinda, but then they just let him walk away? There are lots of bad trades in the NBA happening during the trade deadline frenzy, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this one get brought up.
It looks better when you consider that the Wiz were able to dump Andre Nicholson’s bad contract (I swear he could still be good god damn it give him another chance), but it still doesn’t seem good to me. I’m biased because the Nets ended up drafting Jarrett Allen with the pick, and Jarrett Allen is awesome.
In the end, it doesn’t matter too much, because the Wizards are in a good spot anyway, and now the Pacers get Bogdanovic! Everyone is happy! Except for Bogdanovic. I don’t think he ever smiles. Even when he scored 44 I don’t think he smiled one time.
