Playoff probabilities are hard. There are probably smart people somewhere on earth who know what’s going on at the bottom of the Western Conference playoff race, but I am not smart, so I am not on of those people. This whole thing is just way too confusing for me.
I’m going to assume that this win helps the Nuggets’ chances of making the playoffs. That seems like a fair assumption to me but I’m in so far over my head that I can’t be sure. I bet there are scenarios where win hurt team’s chances. That’s the deal with math. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn’t, but all the time it’s really hard.
Nikola Jokic doesn’t want to spend another May watching the playoffs from his super-comfy couch in Serbia. Even if the couch is really ultra comfy with a big comfy depression where his butt goes. He wants to fight for the glory of a championship, even if that glory will likely remain out of reach for a few more years. It’s not inconceivable that they could give the Warriors a fight, is it? Jokic would feast on whatever pathetic center they put out there.
