Johnathan Motley just drove the Mavericks’ tank back into the garage, got out, looked at the rest of his teammates, and announced “we’re frickin’ WALKING the rest of the way”.
Then, while he was stubbornly walking away, assuming that the others were following, the remaining Mavericks clambered back into the tank, started it up, and drove it right back along the path to Luka Doncic.
Motley did everything he could tonight to get the W, but it wasn’t enough. He carried the Mavs like Dirk carried them to a championship, hitting the game-tying three (!!!) with 11 seconds left as the 5 remaining Pistons fans wondered who they guy with the bowl-cut made of dreads was. A truly inspiring performance by Motley, the kind of performance that happens on the last day of the regular season, except we’re still several days away from that. Who knows what he’s going to do next? He had 14 points in his first real action of the season last game, now he’s gone out and scored 26 like it’s not even a big deal. But it is a big deal. Perhaps, the biggest deal.
Speaking of biggest deals, how about that contract Nerlens Noel turned down? Whoops. He just got fully replaced by Motley, who I assume is going to be able to be retained for super cheap.
