Quincy Acy, per minute, takes more threes at a higher percentage than Donovan Mitchell. How’s that for a fun fact? You can impress everyone at the water cooler on Monday with that little tidbit. They might even give you a raise for it.
There aren’t a whole ton of players who are more willing to shoot triples than he is. At least, not as many as you’d expect. Early-career Acy was near the bottom in that category, preferring to work inside (mainly by dunking), but he has reinvented himself into a three-point specialist who isn’t especially good at shooting them but has a nice beard so it evens out.
Acy hit 6 of the things tonight, a career-high, on his way to 21 points, also a career-high, and the Nets fell one short of the NBA record for most threes in a game with 24. Somehow, I’m happy about that. A team like the Nets (no offense) shouldn’t get to set all-time records. That’s reserved for teams that are good, or at least teams with notable players.
