Jake “Lake Jayman” Layman has been getting more minutes recently. This is good to see after he was intermittently getting DNP’s through the month of December. It’s also good to see that he sometimes has good games even though he’s only getting around twenty minutes as the starter. Ever since his rookie debut where he scored seventeen points in eight minutes and basically made Stephen Curry and co. lick his private parts, I’ve wanted this guy to do well.
But there’s a problem. I have a feeling that Jake Layman’s minutes are coming at the expense of other players on the roster. Specifically oen player. A player who share certain easy-to-see…visual attributes…with Layman, and who also plays roughly the same position in roughly the same style. Can you figure out who I’m talking about?
That’s right. Nik Stauskas. His minutes have been stuck in the fifteen minute (or lower) range for the better part of a month, and he also was subjected to some DNP’s. I’m a fan of his as well, and not only because I found out that he cried when DeMarcus Cousins made fun of him for being a bust.
This is a dilemma. I want both Stauskas and Layman to do well and receive adequate minutes, but it seems like that they can’t exist simultaneously on this roster. I suppose there really is only one solution: trade Nik Stauskas to the Bucks for Thon Maker. Then we can have both Pat Connaughton and Nik Stauskas on the same team, but I promise they won’t annihilate each other into anti-matter like Stauskas and Layman seem to be doing. I promise. Just please take Thon Maker away.
