For some reason, every time Robin Lopez made a bucket against the Nuggets (which was often, for him), Stacey King said “*INSERT CRUDDY CENTER FROM THE DISTANT PAST* would be proud”. Is he trying to make fun of Lopez’ retro style of play, or is he just trying to insert some levity into the utterly depressing proceedings? Here’s the whole list of players he referenced:

Now, honestly, how many of those players have you heard of? I’m not as up on yesterday’s scrubs as I am on today’s scrubs, so I’d only heard of Waiters, Corzine, Awtrey, and Chappell. Jawann Oldham sounds like the inspiration for the WNBA documentary “Juwanna Mann” to me.
With regards to Lopez, it’s nice that the Bulls are showcasing him for a trade so he can get the heck off that franchise. Remember, at the beginning of last season, he was their best player. Straight up. Now he doesn’t get to play. Sure, he’s not as flashy with the three-pointers from 500 feet away, but he does have a sick skyhook-ish thing that he whipped out a whole bunch against Mason Plumlee.
