Would Ivica Zubac be a voted-in All Star if he had been playing this well the entire season instead of just the last few games? I’m thinking yes, and you know what, that yes would be positively RESOUNDING. Remember, he plays for the team with a fanbase that faithfully voted for the husk of Kobe all those years. I don’t remember how well they stuffed the ballot box for players like D.J. Mbenga and Chris Mihm, but it was probably really well, and Zubac is way better than those dudes. If he had gotten starts at the beginning of the year, playing alongside LeBron and acting as LeBron’s new “Big Z” (Ante Zizic was LeBron’s old new Big Z), and put up numbers like this regularly, it wouldn’t be a question. He’d be an All-Star, and not only that, he’d have endorsement deals.
As it stands, he’s putting up numbers for a team that isn’t that exciting and isn’t winning that many games. Just like tons of dudes all around the league. Instead of being an All-Star and getting to shill sneakers to disadvantaged youths, all he gets are DownToBuck videos filled with faint praise in the description. And the respect of Tyson Chandler. As if that means anything.
