The Jahlil Okafor redemption tour continues. His makes and misses from the last four games look like this: 9-of-11, 8-of-13, 9-of-12, and now 10-of-12. I would love nothing more than to say this resulted in four Pelicans wins, but that would be a lie. They did win the first of those, at least.
But who cares if his stats aren’t translating to W’s? Maybe Pelicans fans, but not anyone else. Certainly not me. All I care about is raw bucketage, and Okafor is providing that in spades. Besides, it’s not his fault that the already shallow-depthed Pelicans are facing a lot of injuries. That’s the whole reason this is happening in the first place, and he’s definitely holding up his end of the bargain; guys like E’Twaun Moore are not.
This was what I would consider a “vintage” Okafor performance. Just straight up bucket-getting by a guy who was born into this world ready to post people up and put the ball in the hole. I don’t feel like there were many people who doubted he could still get it done one-on-one, more like people doubted he could do any of the other 500 things involved in being a good basketball player, but any doubters of that type who did exist have now been totally silenced.
Anthony Davis can take his time coming back, I’d say.
