I’ve been kind of ignoring Jordan Clarkson and his middling-to-decent scoring performances recently, and, you know what? I’m not even going to apologize for it. Judging by the view counts on my recent Clarkson videos, nobody really cares that much about him even though he has his own team, and the reason for that is, LeBron isn’t on the team. Honestly, what we’re seeing now from Clarkson is probably going to be the peak of his career when all is said and done. If and when Kevin Love comes back, the Cavs become Love’s team, and Clarkson goes back to his support role where people might care about him even less, if that’s at all possible.
Since Clarkson is a decent scorer who gets no buzz at all, I have to assume that he plays no defense at all. If he played defense, he would be touted as a skilled two-way wing player, sort of how Khris Middleton was being aggressively touted a few years ago by the “experts”. I don’t hold it against Clarkson if he doesn’t play defense, since I don’t care about defense at all, but if it’s hurting his league-wide reputation, maybe he should try playing some defense some day. The worst that happens is you tire yourself out and then you can’t do as many “Jordan Clarkson Dance to the Hoop”s as you’re used to.
One more thing: if your go-to move is a “dance to the hoop” (implying crossovers, shimmies, and other assorted ISO moves), that’s probably not a good thing. You’re entering Lance Stephenson territory with that. That’s DEFINITELY not a good thing.
