Jamal Crawford 22 Points/7 Assists Full Highlights (1/29/2019)

It was brought up during this broadcast that Jamal Crawford is getting very close to Suns commentator Eddie Johnson’s career points total. Barring a season-and-career-ending injury to Crawford within the next 48 hours, I’d say that Crawford will have no trouble surpassing EJ’s total.

Before the game, Crawford was at 19170 points. Eddie Johnson was at 19202. By my calculations, the totals after the completion of this game are Crawford at 19192 points and Johnson still at 19202 (was he even trying to score out there?). The magical moment could happen any time now. It could be next game, or three games from now, or even longer if Crawford hits a really rough shooting stretch.

The next goal after beating Eddie Johnson on the points leaderboard is for Crawford to get the magical 20,000. He’s like 800 points away, and the rate he’s scoring this season isn’t going to get him there (he’ll probably score between 250 and 300 more points this season). Is he too old to play another season? Given that he looks relatively mobile this season, I’d say he’s got it in him to chuck inefficiently and not play defense for at least one more season. Then he can get his 20,000 and enter his name in the halls of the elite few.
