Marvin Bagley 17 Points Full Highlights (1/30/2019)

Imagine my surprise when I pulled up this game to find that the legendary Kings commentator Jerry Reynolds had come back for a game. Kings games just sound better with that old guy saying his old-guy catchphrases and describing slam dunks in the corniest way possible. Doug Christie brings a different flavor to the broadcasts that I’m still getting used to. Not to say that Christie is bad, it’s just that he’s different. There’s always a period of adjustment when long-time commentators retire (or are forced out [bring back Tony Fiorentino you idiots]).

That said, Reynolds and Napear were being the biggest homers ever about Marvin Bagley. For the entire broadcast, or at least the parts where Bagley was in the game, they couldn’t stop gushing about how good he was. I mean, I think he’s good too, but I haven’t seen enough good things from him yet to label him a guaranteed perennial All-Star like these two guys seem to think, given their breathless descriptions of his play. Maybe I’m spoiled by Luka Doncic who is probably the second coming of Jesus H. Christ, and by John Collins who developed so quickly that it caught everybody off guard, but Bagley has a ways to go before I’m ready to crown him.

Basically, what I’m saying is, knob-slobbing of the magnitude heard on this broadcast should only be lavished upon those who knobs deserve such slobbing. Bagley’s knob is undeserving.
