Josh Jackson has now scored 25 points in two consecutive games. That’s good news for Suns fans who were maybe moving on from him a little bit and who were preparing to confront the fact that he might be as vital a part of the Suns’ YOUNG CORE as they wished he was. However, buried within this good news, there can be found bad news. Just like digging up Egyptian burial sites yields sweet treasures and mummies (the good news in this metaphor), it also yields a neverending curse that will haunt you for the rest of your days (the bad news).
What I’m talking about here is the way that Jackson scored his points. In the previous game, he only needed fifteen shots to get 25 points. It was the most efficient that Jackson has been in a long time. This game, he needed 23 shots to get 25 points. Did I get transported back to the 1970’s or something? That kind of efficiency isn’t really in vogue these days now that teams average more than two 3PA per game.
Devin Booker has stated that he’s tired of losing. I think Suns ownership is as well. Suns fans are tolerating it, but they’d rather win. If the timeline to winning is next year, I’m not sure Jackson will be ready to contribute by then. He needs more development. That means that trades have to be on the table, and with the trade deadline fast approaching (plus Jackson’s recent good games), somebody should be working those phones to see what teams will give up for Jackson. And if nobody’s working the phones, I volunteer to work them. This time I promise not to make fart noises at any GM who calls.
