Raptors fans must be losing it right now. Not only has Jonas Valanciunas been a complete beastcake his entire time in Memphis, not only has Delon Wright had some very good games for his new team, not only has Marc Gasol been underwhelming in his first few games in Toronto, but now C.J. Miles has just scored more points in one game than he has in any other game since in his Cleveland days. If that second-round pick that the Raptors traded turns out to be a useful player, then the fleecing will be complete. As of now, the fleecing is 95% complete.
As I said, Raptors fans have got to be calling for Masai’s head right at this moment. To trade a whole cadre of useful, productive players for a guy who is, as of right now, only theoretically useful and productive, that’s brutal. Even if this game from Miles is a one-off anomaly that will not again be replicated in the rest of his career.
This is not Miles’ career high. Not even the 34 he scored in Cleveland that one time was a career high. Please try to contain your gasps of surprise when I tell you that Miles is actually part of the illustrious forty-point club. I know, it blew my mind when I first heard it and it blew my mind just now when I rediscovered that fact while doing my research. His forty point game came two seasons before I started doing highlights, but that would be like the crown jewel of my highlights career. There would be a special podium in my highlights archivium for the VHS tape of that one.
That said, these 33 points are pretty awesome, and they’re only made more awesome when the collective tears of Raptors fans worldwide are factored in.
