Emmanuel Mudiay certainly went into this game wiht one thing on his mind: getting sweet, succulent REVENGE on the Denver Nuggets, the team that drafted him and then threw him to the gutter like a bag of moldy tangerines. This burning desire of Mudiay’s to have a REVENGE GAME against the Nuggs is probably what led him to attempt twenty-one field goals; after all, how are you going to show your former teammates and coaches what they’re missing out on if you don’t use up a lot of possessions with shot attempts?
I think it kinda worked, because Mudiay had a game-high 21 points (tied with Jokic, who also had 21). By that very limited measure, he was the best player on the court. He needed 21 shots to get his 21 points, but that’s the price you pay for going all-out to get REVENGE against your opponent. Now the Nuggets coaching staff is clutching their heads in disbelief while wailing, “I can’t believe we let a shoot-first point guard who relentlessly chucks pull-up midrange jumpers out of our grasp!”
Overall, I give this REVENGE GAME a 4/10 on the REVENGE scale. Mudiay’s team lost, his FG% was lower than his season mark, he didn’t take over the game with his playmaking, and didn’t have a “statement” play that drove home the intensity of his REVENGE.
