It’s shameful to admit it, but I think I’m coming full-circle on Michael Carter-Williams. While I am of the opinion that he isn’t a very good basketball player, his fall from grace (going from ROTY of the year to out of the league) saddens me. I think I can finally feel emotions other than agitation towards him because it’s been a while since he was on the Bucks and I had to watch him play way more often than I would have liked.
Is he really so bad that he doesn’t belong in the NBA? Perhaps. But his length at the point guard position will continue to intrigue teams. Maybe they won’t be intrigued enough to sign him, but they’ll be intrigued in the same way that teams were intrigued by Austin Daye. Dude sucks but is way taller than the average guy at his position? Make him your reclamation project and maybe your GM will be made to look like a genius!
MCW had a tough go of it for his first few games with the Magic, but his efforts in this game contributed to an unlikely twenty-point win against the Suxers, which basically guarantees that he’ll get a second ten-dayer if he hasn’t already gotten it. In fact, he’s basically guaranteed a rest-of-the-season contract just on this game alone. Next year is a different story. But there are rumors that Jason Kidd could be coaching next season, so anything can happen!
