It wasn’t way too long ago that Jodie Meeks was scoring more points than this on a near-nightly basis with the Lakers. During the 2013-14 season (a time I consider the “Chris Kaman Era” of Lakers basketball) he averaged almost 16 per game on 46 percent shooting. The best season of his career, and as I said, it wasn’t even that long ago. I was making highlights for a ton of those games, including the 42-burger he had. If I was around making videos for it, it’s basically recent NBA history according to me.
But we all know his sad story. At the end of his tenure with the ‘Zards last season, he was caught injecting bull shark testosterone and horse steroids into his rear end with multiple gigantic syringes by Adam Silver himself. All Silver wanted to do was visit with John Wall in the locker room after a hard-fought win, and what was he greeted with instead? Meeks’ big black booty with 7 syringes sticking out of it like a firework. Boom. Suspended.
His suspension is over now, and even if he still looks a little roided up (look at those biceps, man, you can’t tell me those are all-natural), the NBA says it’s okay for him to keep playing basketball. Shows you how much they care about the integrity of the game, but from their point of view, I understand wanting to let a bigtime moneymaker like Meeks back into the league. He’s not the player he once was, but he still has a little bit of shooting left to offer the Raptors. A little bit of shooting, and a lot of primo hookups.
