Danny “Trade Throw-In” Green is having the best season of his career in terms of scoring efficiency. It’s also the third-best season of his career in terms of raw PPG per game. His defense is probably still good as well, although it’s hard for me to make that determination given the amount of fricks I give to defense (reminder: it’s zero fricks).
Taking all that into account, plus the success that the Raptors are having as a team, AND the fact that Green is fourth in overall plus-minus this season (behind Curry, Durant, and Giannis), AND the fact that Green’s on-off is an outrageous +17.8 this season after it was hovering around 0.0 for the past several season, it totally seems like Danny Green is having the best season of his career by far. Like, by really far. Far far.
Spurs fans must be supremely pissed off right now. Green regressed into nothing after that one season where he had a really strong first three games of the Finals. The Spurs stubbornly kept him around even though he was playing like a very role-playery role player and didn’t show any signs of turning it around. Then, he went to the Raptors and miraculously turned back into that player who was turning heads in the Finals. Now, the Spurs have a shooting guard who can’t shoot threes, and have to watch Green from afar as he shoots 45% from three on five attempts per game.
This is one situation where I think Raptors fans are allowed to gloat a little bit.
